April Classes

Finally...It's HERE!!!  Today is the first official day of SPRING and we couldn't be more excited!  We're celebrating the season in so many ways - you simply won't be able to help yourself but celebrate with us!  A couple of wonderful events are lined up for you in April.  On April 16th, we're participating in the Lasting Hearts Card Drive sponsored by Hero Arts from 2-4pm.  It's a great cause and all the details are below.  The 2nd Event is our 5th ANNIVERSARY PARTY AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL!!!  WooHoo!!  Yup...we've turned 5 years old and are partying on Saturday, April 30th!  Get registered now - it's gonna be a blast you won't want to miss.  Some incredible classes are scheduled in April too so pick your favorites - 3 would be great since we're continuing the Buy 3 April Classes and Get 1 Free Deal (April 29th).  Reserve your seats today by visiting the store or calling us at 970-613-1631!  See you soon at Artsy - Happy Spring!

BELLY BUTTON CARDS:  What a clever little name Patsy is calling her “inny and outty” cards!  These humorous cards will feature sassy little sayings from Dyan Reaveley (Dylusions) on both the inside and outside of the card.  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Patsy on Friday, 4/1 from 6-8pm.    4/$10

BEAUTIFUL DREAMER GIFT BOX W/4 CARDS:  Learn to use Prima sprays to create a new effect on these glossy gift boxes, tie it up with a bow, and fill with four fun Steampunk cards.  As easy as 1-2-3!  Students get all the scraps ... probably enough to make four more cards.  Adhesives required are 3/4" Skor tape, white tacky glue, and UHU glue stick.  Also bring these distress inks if you have -- crushed olive, Victorian velvet, peeled paint, brushed corduroy, hickory smoke, dusty concord and black soot.  Bring your basic kit to class. GELLI PLATE PRINTING ADVANCED CLASS:  This class was such a hit that Julia is holding an ADVANCED CLASS for those who have taken her Gelli Plate 101 Class.  If you thought you learned everything the first time around, you’ll be happily surprised to see that Julia will teach you even MORE ways to use this incredible inking technique using a 3” x 5”Gelli Plate!  It’s an easy, fun and highly addictive technique that ANY papercrafter or scrapbooker can use. It’s also perfect for your Art Journals!  All YOU need to bring with you to class is your brayer AND your Gelli plate from the first class, everything else will be provided.  With Julia on Saturday 4/2 from 1:30-3:30   $25

G45 APRIL/MAY/JUNE CALENDAR LAYOUTS:  For all of you scrapbookers out there…this is a gem of a class that is focused on calendar page layouts. This month we’re focusing on April, May and June pages.  It’s a unique idea and will certainly give your scrapbooks that little twist you’ve been looking for!  Bring your basic kit to class.   With Julia on Sunday 4/3 from 12:30-3pm   $25

TEA BAG DAISY FOLD BOX:   Just too cute!   This adorable little box and 4 enclosure size cards can be a great gift for someone special or keep them to use for yourself.  Either way, you’ll have fun learning how to make these adorable little daisies! DISTRESS INK TECHNIQUES:  These magic pads can create a lot of diverse looks and Distress Inks are truly the “in” thing these days! Come in and learn at least 7 techniques and take home instruction tags for all 7.  Bring your basic kit to class.   With Patsy on Wednesday, 4/7 from 10-Noon.  $25

“PLAY TIME” – OPEN STUDIO/CLASSROOM FUN!  This is becoming a growing favorite at Artsy!  We  opening up the classroom to anyone who wants a little ‘me’ time or break from the day to create and play with anything we have in the classroom – for FREE!!  Think of it as kind of like your own little personal demo or practice session.  Want to try using the Big Shot with dies or embossing folders for the first time or get a little more practice in?  Or use a Cutterpillar? Or try out a few stencils, stamps, inks, sprays, etc?  This is your chance.  Please feel free to come by during the designated hours and hang out creating whatever makes you smile! But PLEASE bring your basic kit with you to have on hand though.   Open hours this month are on Friday, 4/8 anytime between Noon-4pm.   FREE!

EC CARDS (ELIZABETH CRAFT):  Caron is back to show you just how to use a few of those extra special dies that Elizabeth Craft Designs has created for pop-ups and cut-outs!  This class will remove all doubt about how easy it is to use these fabulous tools.  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Caron on Saturday 4/9 from 10:30am-12:30pm.  2/$18

SHIMMER SHEET TISSUE BOX:  The beauty of and fascination with Shimmer Sheets goes to a whole new level when you learn how to turn them into a pretty piece of home décor.  These boxes make wonderful gifts and guess what???  They’re not hard to make at all!   You’ll learn how to construct them from start to finish. The box base is silver and you can choose the color of shimmer sheets you'd like to use.  Bring your basic kit to class, especially Skor tape or similar adhesive.  With Caron on Saturday 4/9 from 2-4pm.

WISHING WELL BOX CARD:  This fabulous card showcases one of the newest dies from EC – the Wishing Well!!    Even if you’ve learned this box card technique in the past, you’ll have a difficult time resisting this version – no such thing as too many wishes, right???  And yes….you CAN mail it!  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Diane on Sunday, 4/10 from 1-3pm    $10

EMBROIDERY ON PAPER:  Punch a design, stitch the pattern and create a card.  It’s easier than it looks!  Plus, it’s the perfect little surprise element to add texture to your cards or scrapbook pages.  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Patsy on Tuesday, 4/12 from 4-6pm  OR  on Tuesday, 4/26 from 6-8pm  $10

MASCULINE VINTAGE SPORTS CARDS: These put-together cards are fun and easy -- "layers" is the name of the game.  Nostaligic sports images and flourishes make these cards just the right statement for guys of all ages.  Students get all the scraps ... probably enough to make four more cards.  Instructor will bring additional greetings to change out words as you like.  Bring your own adhesives and basic kit to class. With Cherri on Thursday 4/14 from 2-4pm.  4/$14

D-STRESSED CARDS:  Feeling a little stressed these days?  Come in and relax while playing with these beautiful flowers, soothing colors, and learning some great inking techniques.  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Sue on Friday 4/15 from 6-8pm OR on Tuesday, 4/19 from 1-3pm.   5/$12

BRUSHO POWDER WATERCOLOR PAINT DEMO:  Mark your calendar now to pop into Artsy for this fun demo using one of the newest products on the market - Brusho paints!!   These are unique, transparent, and highly pigmented water-color ink powders that give wonderful bursts of color when using a simple sprinkle technique.  It is perfect for creating background colors on paper, card stock and fabric.  With Patsy on Saturday 4/16 from 10:30-11:30am.  FREE! 

 

LASTING HEARTS CARD DRIVE EVENT:  Lasting Hearts was created to help comfort parents, mothers in particular, who have lost a child in pregnancy or older. To raise awareness, Lasting Hearts is donating a book, a handstamped card and a resource card to doctors’ offices to help ease the pain of parents who have lost a child.  ARTSY is participating in this cause by providing love through handmade sympathy cards, with a simple message of support written inside.  Please plan now to join us in making sympathy cards using a few specifically designed stamps and products from Hero Arts.  There is no monetary cost to you…just your time in making a few cards to send in support of these special mothers.  All supplies are provided.  You can learn more about Lasting Hearts on Jennifer McGuire’s blog here:  http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2016/01/lasting-hearts-card-drive-giveaway.html

GESSO AND DISTRESS CARDS:  My, oh my….you can’t go wrong when you combine these two effective techniques – gesso and distress ink!  Once you learn it, you’ll wonder how you got along without knowing it before.  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Patsy on Wednesday 4/20 from 10-Noon.  6/$10

TIME MACHINE ALBUM:  Calling all of you super-special album lovers!!  What a class this will be for those who have a little more advanced papercrafting knowledge and skillset.  Shana is Artsy’s newest instructor and she’s jumping right in with this gorgeous album featuring paper from BoBunny and Kaisercraft.  She’s filled page after page with everything that speaks “time machine” including hidden panels, gears, tags, and much more.  It is a fast-paced, two-part class designed for those who are familiar and comfortable with various techniques and terminology.  Her goal is for you to go home with a finished album!  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Shana on Friday 4/22 (Part 1) from 6-8pm and Saturday 4/23 (Part 2) from 9am-5pm.  $90

CITY SCAPES G45 3D:  Even though it shouldn’t surprise us anymore…Julia still manages to do just that!  This frameable 3D uses the NEW and stunning City Scapes Paper Collection from Graphic 45. Learn how to use 3 sheets of the same paper to bring dimension and life to this image.  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Julia on Saturday, 4/23 from 2:30-4:30pm.   $12 (or $8 for ‘repeaters’)

DEMO – ILLUSTRATED BIBLE:  This FREE demo will show you how you can utilize faith-based papers and products like washi tape, pens, highlighters, stickers, vellum, and more to create beautiful embellishments to place in your Bible.   With Marsha on Sunday 4/24 from 1:30-3pm.  FREE!!

ALCOHOL INK TECHNIQUES:  Little tiny bottles of ink can make fabulous backgrounds when you learn how to use them.  Bring your basic kit to class.    With Patsy on Wednesday, 4/27 from 10-Noon.  $25

TAGS (& BLOCKS) SPRING BLOOMS:  This month’s set of tags will transport you instantly into Spring with adorable bumble bees, lady bugs, and beautiful blooms!!  Bring your basic kit to class.  With Grace on Thursday, 4/28 from 6-8    $15  (Be sure to tell the sales associate when you register if you’re a newbie to this class and need the blocks too – there is a one-time additional cost of $15 for the blocks that the tags attach to.)

PRIMA PAINTING PEELOFFS CARDS:   You’ve just gotta see this technique to believe it!  Opal Magic Acrylic Paints by Prima take painting on paper cardstock to the next level.  The colors instantly transform on different colors of paper allowing the user to create multiple effects with the same jar of paint.  Incredible!  You can register for this class independently or you can attend for FREE when you Buy 3 classes in APRIL!!!  BRING your basic kit to class.  With Patsy on Friday, 4/29 from 6-8pm.  $8 or FREE with purchase of 3 April classes!!

ARTSY’S 5th ANNIVERSARY CARD PARTY AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL!!!  Can you believe we are 5 years old????  That calls for a Sweet Celebration – literally.  Mark your calendars now for SATURDAY APRIL 30th from 12:30-3pm and get registered today for our Anniversary Card Party and Ice Cream Social!!!  All attendees will enjoy creating at least 6 unique cards, super-special store discounts, music, laughter, oh….and yummy ICE CREAM with all the toppings!  We’re talking the really GOOD stuff, too!!!  We would unveil snippets of the sample cards for you now, but we can’t….cuz it’s a Mystery Card Party!  Just like the name implies…it’s a real mystery and everyone will get to show off their individual creativity.
